  Capital Equipment Needs
  Capital

Capital funds are needed for a variety of purposes - from ongoing building maintenance to the purchase of vehicles or major equipment or to the expansion or establishment of new buildings. For example, we will be looking at replacing our old triple wide trailers in Brentwood with a new facility. A new building would cost in the neighbourhood of $200,000.

Additionally, a major development opportunity exists for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Victoria Foundation to purchase the 98 acre property at 3870 Brotherstone Road which has been used for effective Boys & Girls Club Services programming for the last 20 years.

Use of this property has been varied and extensive throughout the years but has always been maintained by the Provincial Government through the British Columbia Buildings Corporation. With the government’s sale of the property and the first right of refusal to purchase, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Victoria Foundation is preparing a socially, environmentally and fiscally responsible plan to maintain the property and continue to expand new and necessary services to the region.

The last few years have seen a dramatic increase in interest from community organizations and individuals who would like not only access to the property but also to services we currently provide such as Adventure-based learning experiences. Groups have ranged from schools and community organizations to corporate groups seeking professional growth through team building exercises.

With substantial population growth projected for the Western Communities in the near future, which is within close proximity to Camp, access to a facilities and services in the region will increase along with needs. The Camp property’s current use pattern is concentrated on only a few of the 98 acres leaving room for more active use and programming to exist.

We have secured half of the $1.62 million purchase price and need to secure the balance of funding required. In addition to the purchase of the property we will be looking at ways to maximize the use of the property and an additional building to provide space for special events, seminars and retreats, and offices would definitely be on our “wish list”.
Major contributions to these two projects would be most welcome and would provide an ideal opportunity to have a building named in the donor's honour.
