Coastline Challenges Camp

PROGRAM NAME: Coastline Challenges Camp

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Coastline Challenges Camp is an approved Provincial Youth Justice Program that offers an intensive outdoor program for male and female youth on Probation aged 13 to 18. The camp is wilderness based offering either a 26-day or a 9-day immersion, both are physically demanding and operate year-round in all types of weather. The intent is to use the outdoors as a means to learn and practice cooperation, communication, anger management skills, develop self-esteem, and character along the way. Courses include mountaineering, hiking, canoeing, and work projects. Participants build their own shelters and cook over open fires. Coastline Challenges Camp ventures to spectacular and often remote locations on and around Vancouver Island.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The wilderness instructors help youth develop outdoor skills, while helping them to discover their true potentials, develop personal strengths, and gain insights into cooperative living and in their ability to take charge of the directions of their own lives. Change is facilitated through the use of adventure therapy and asset building principles.

Participants are youth who are involved in the Youth Justice System and are court-ordered to attend the program. Coastline Challenges aims to help young people chart new directions and find channels to success.

It is a journey of challenge, reflection, discovery, and triumph. A journey through Coastline Challenges starts from within!
