Intensive Support & Supervision Program (ISSP)

PROGRAM NAME: Intensive Support & Supervision Program (ISSP)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The program provides service to youth involved in the Criminal Justice System with the overall goal to reduce youth involvement in crime and to optimize their health and well-being. Youth Support Workers assist the youth in becoming involved in school and/or vocational training, teach life skills and encourage appropriate leisure pursuits. Community referrals, on-going support, and after-care services are also offered to the youth and their caregivers. There are currently three workers servicing the areas of Saanich, Victoria (also serving Sidney), and the Western Communities.

The Intensive Support and Supervision Program involves the assignment of a higher risk youth to a Youth Support Worker on a one-to-one basis. This facilitating of intensive support and supervision compliments, but does not replace, the case management and supervision provided by a Youth Probation Officer.
