The Youth Withdrawal Management Program offers a non-medical detox in a private, safe and supportive care home setting. The care home is designed to provide services to male, female, and transgender youth between the ages of 13 to 19 years old who are in need of detox services. The Youth Withdrawal Management Program is divided into two tiers. Tier I acute detox is 7 -10 days of 24 hour supervised care. Tier 2 detox provides youth with an opportunity to stay an additional 20 days in the care home depending on the youth's recovery needs and transition plans. Youth in the Withdrawal Management Program are assigned a Youth and Family Support Worker who provides regular support to the youth in the community and in the care home. The Support Worker works in partnership with the youth to create and develop a service plan that outlines the youth's identified goals and transition plans. The Youth Withdrawal Management Program recognizes thgat many youth dealing with substance use issues also experience mental health concerns. As a result of this, the program is open to youth with concurrent disorders.
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY:
The Youth Withdrawal Management Program operates with the intention of providing youth with a safe and supportive environment for detoxification from substances. Youth and Family Support Workers empower youth to begin a journey of positive change by assisting the youth in recognizing their strenghts and abilities. The Withdrawal Management Program philosophy recognizes that recovery is an individual process that can be impacted by culture, gender, sexual orientation and mental health issues. Based on this the program offers and individualized, holistic, integrated approach to developing and working towards a healthy lifestyle.
INTAKE & REFERRAL PROCESS:
Referrals to the Youth Withdrawal Management Program are made to the Detox Intake Worker. After a referral has been made, the Intake Worker contacts the youth as soon as possible to set up an interview. Program eligibility is then determined based on the youth's ability and willingness to detox in a care home setting, follow program guidelines and participate in a medical screening process.
