PROGRAM NAME: Kick-Start Attendance Program
 
PROGRAM INTRODUCTION:

The Kick-Start Attendance Program is a community based program for youth involved in the justice system, who may benefit from additional community supports in order to successfully complete their court orders.

Youth receive education of their court order, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the BC Court System.

As part of a group, youth will participate in activites and projects that contribute postitively to their community.

Youth will be encouraged to participate in community recreational activities, giving them a positive place to be upon completion of the program.

 
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
  • Educate youth on the Youth Criminal Justice Act and their responsibilities to court orders
  • Connect youth with appropriate community resources
  • Encourage positive community participation through volunteering
  • Support and resources for youth to initiate compliance to their court order
  • Access to positive community recreational activities and strategies to improve their health and well-being
   
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Kick-Start Attendance Program is a four-week evening program for youth 12 - 17 years of age who are involved with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The four main modules of the program are described here:

Module A - Addresses education around the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and responsibilities to their court order.

Module B - Volunteer project for the community. Where appropriate youth will present the completed project to the benefiting organization.

Module C - Support and assistance acessing community resources needed for compliance to their court order.

Module D - Supported participation in group and community recreational pursuits.

   
PARTICIPANTS:

Youth aged 12 - 17 involved in the Criminal Justice System are welcome in the Kick-Start Attendance Program.

   
REFERRALS:

We accept referrals from many sources: Probation Officers, Social Workers, Parents/Caregivers, and Youth themselves.
